Low shear pump study highlight

The shearing effect of pumps on the dispersed oil droplets in produced water treatment was recognized in the 80’s. This article summarizes the research done on shearing characteristics of different pump types in this time period.

Produced water treatment equipment

Co-produced water with oil requires to be separated. Primary separation equipment remove majority of oil and solids from the produced water. However, before this water can be discharged, it has to be routed to the water treatment facilities in order to achieve the required level of purity. There are many different types of the water treating equipment used presently in the industry. Most common ones are briefly described in this article.
